Terms of service

By using The Caddie at Pinehurst — the Android app, the web app at pinehurstcaddie.com, or any related service — you agree to these terms. They're written plainly because we'd rather you actually read them.

Play it as it lies. Use the app to play better golf at Pinehurst. Don't try to break it or use it to hurt anyone. That covers most of what follows.
§ 1

The basics

The Caddie at Pinehurst ("The Caddie," "the Service," "we") is operated by The Caddie team, based in Southern Pines, North Carolina. By creating an account, signing in with Google, or otherwise using the Service, you accept these terms. If you don't accept them, don't use the Service.

The Service is a golf companion app. It provides yardage information, AI-generated caddie advice, scoring and analytics, practice programs, and competition tools for players at Pinehurst Resort and the Sandhills region of North Carolina.

§ 2

Beta status

The Caddie is currently in beta. That means:

Don't rely on The Caddie for anything where downtime, data loss, or an inaccurate yardage would cause real harm.

§ 3

Your account

You sign in with a Google account. You're responsible for keeping that account secure. You're responsible for what happens under your account, whether you logged in yourself or someone else did.

You must be 18 or older — or have a parent or guardian's permission — to use The Caddie. You must provide accurate information and update it when it changes.

§ 4

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

We can suspend or terminate your access if you do any of the above.

§ 5

Your content

Anything you upload, type, score, or otherwise create inside The Caddie — your bag, your notes, your rounds, your sidebets — is yours. You retain full ownership of it.

You grant us a limited license to store, process, and display your content as needed to operate the Service for you. We do not claim ownership and we do not use your content to train AI models or sell to third parties.

§ 6

AI advice

The Caddie uses AI (currently Anthropic's Claude API) to generate caddie recommendations, club selections, and practice guidance. This advice is computer-generated and may be wrong. Use your own judgment. We are not liable for outcomes — good or bad — that follow from acting on AI suggestions.

A real caddie reads wind, slope, mood, and a hundred other things The Caddie can only guess at. Treat the AI as a thoughtful guess, not a guarantee.

§ 7

Pinehurst Resort

The Caddie is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Pinehurst Resort, Pinehurst, LLC, or any of their subsidiaries. Course information, yardages, and tee-time references are based on publicly available data and our own research. Pinehurst trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.

§ 8

Intellectual property

The Caddie's name, wordmark, logo, design, source code, and overall look-and-feel are owned by The Caddie team. You may not copy, redistribute, or create derivative works without our written permission.

You may take screenshots and share them for personal, non-commercial use.

§ 9

Termination

You may delete your account at any time by emailing us. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time if we believe you've violated these terms, or if the Service itself is discontinued. On termination, your data is deleted according to our privacy policy.

§ 10

Disclaimers & liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim all warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by law.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Caddie team is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill, arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to one hundred US dollars ($100).

§ 11

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Moore County, North Carolina, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.

§ 12

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. Material changes will be announced inside the app and reflected in the date below. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. If you don't accept a change, stop using the Service and delete your account.
